Up, Up they Go?

In 1931, The Empire State Building became the world's tallest building at 102 stories. In 1972, the World Trade Center became the next to claim the title at 1368 feet to its roof. Then one year later the Sears Tower in Chicago began to hold the record with only 108 stories but at 1451 feet to the roof. There are others that have continued to follow the pattern and race, such as the Petronas Twin Towers and Taipei 101. However, there has been some controversy over the years as to which ones were taller than others; is it based upon antennas, rooftops, or the number of floors.

As of the middle of 2007, the Burj Dubai is longing to assume the command as the World's newest Tallest Building. So, one has to ask and wonder. How far is enough and when will the race stop.
