Angel Eyes

The other day I was in attendance of a wedding. One of the songs that is normally played at weddings is sung by Jeff Healey. However, it was not played at this wedding.

I really like this song and would like it even if no one else did.

However, what is remarkable to me is the abilities of this singer. For you see he is blind and has been since he was eight months old. A rare form of cancer known as retinoblastoma that affects the eyes caused the blindness. Through all the difficulty, though that being blind carries with it he managed to learn many things. He started to play the guitar at the age of three. Formed and performed in several bands. Did a bit of acting, you might remember him from the movie Road House with Patrick Swayze. By the way, his band at the time recorded the soundtrack for the movie.

Last year, after being cancer free for 38 years he was diagnosed with sarcoma in his legs. He was treated over several months but on March 2, 2008 at the age of 41, he passed away. He left behind a wife, two children and a testimony to his love for the music he played.
