Finished

Yep, after nearly three years of carefully reading I have ended my journey through the Old Testament. I had never before read much in that part of the Bible but I wanted to understand what kind of people lived then and who God’s chosen were that wrote his inspired word.

What I discovered surprised me at first. Old Testament people did not have many of the modern conveniences, technological advancements and a higher education level like we do. But, they shared many similarities. They faced emotional, physical and financial difficulties. They suffered loss, heartache and stress of all kinds. They were tempted by sin in many fashions, especially relating to sex. Some overcame it, many did not.

So, when you really look them they are no different than people today with regard to sin. It was just a different era. The people then and still today aren’t willing to curb their appetite for sin. Although some do, many do not. I, like others struggle with life’s daily challenges but I have a better understanding of people now that I have finished the Old Testament.

Now on to the New Testament!

Same problems, different era.
Yep... I'd have been stoned to death for sure.
